Operations and Technology

Richard A. Wullaert, Ph.D.

Dr. Wullaert earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science from Stanford University in 1969 and became a Division Chief at Battelle-Columbus where he directed research on nuclear materials with an emphasis on radiation effects. Since then he has founded several small high tech companies involved in materials testing, medical imaging, alternative medicine and functional water. He is currently President of Bioguard Industries, Inc. and the Functional Water Society, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to promoting functional water. Dr. Wullaert has extensive R&D, project management and entrepreneurial experience.

For the last 20 years, Dr. Wullaert has been involved in studying functional water, particularly electrolyzed water. He has worked closely with Dr. Hanaoka and is considered the leading U.S. expert on functional water. He has extensive experience with functional water/liquid systems from Japan, Korea, Russia and the U.S. He has developed functional water based products such as bottled water, aquaceuticals, disinfectants, and cosmetics. He has also developed functional water for medical, animal husbandry, and plant growth applications. His current research focus is on the development of systems and test techniques that improve cellular hydration.

Health and Wellness

Allan Sachey, DDS

Dr. Sachey earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from The University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1970 and developed a very successful practice in the Los Angeles area. Over the years, he became interested in holistic dentistry and is a Graduate of the Institute for Nutritional Dentistry. He is certified in First Line Therapy (FLT) which is nutritional and lifestyle coaching at the medical level. He is also certified in Functional Blood Chemistry and Enzyme Therapy.

Dr. Sachey is recognized as an expert in measuring hydration using the Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) technique and trains health care professionals how to use and interpret BIA testing. He teaches classes on hydration for CEU credits to doctors and health care professionals for a leading professional line national supplement company in California. He has also lectured on Water, Hydration, and Radiation with Dr. Wullaert.

Dr. Sachey’s focus for the last 5 years has been on water, nanotechnology, and the emerging field of aquaceuticals as the best delivery system for vitamins, minerals, and nutritional supplements. He believes that we are only as healthy as our cells. When the extracellular water gets contaminated with toxins, then this space (the Matrix) can no longer protect the cells and the disease process and accelerated aging starts. When water flows out of the cells to dilute the toxins in the Matrix, the cells (we) become dehydrated. Thus, keeping the Matrix clean is a major key to long term health and true anti-aging from the inside out.

Science and Intellectual Property

Kokichi Hanaoka, Ph.D.

Dr. Hanaoka studied at Shinshu University, obtaining an Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Chemistry and a Graduate Degree in Membrane Science. He obtained his Doctorate of Engineering from Shinshu University in 1992. During the period of April 1993 to March 1998, he was the Managing Director of the Functional Water Foundation. This organization served as the catalyst in assembling all of the academic specialists working on functional electrolyzed water. Dr. Hanaoka was instrumental in forming the First Annual Functional Water Symposium, which brought legitimacy to this technology. Since 1993, Annual Functional Water Conferences are held in Japan.

Dr. Hanaoka has worked in the roles of a university lecturer, author of scientific publications and inventor of new methodologies involving electrochemistry. He is a member of 10 academic societies in the areas of chemistry, polymers, membrane science, ergonomics, health, physical education, medical informatics, live cell analysis and functional water. He has authored a recent book: “The Discovery of the Enhanced Property of Water Supporting Life and Ecology”.

Dr. Hanaoka is a Visiting Professor at the University of Texas in San Antonio, working closely with Dr. Gabriel Fernandes, and is also the Founder and President of BioREDOX Laboratory. He continues his work in the areas of advanced science and technologies surrounding electrolysis water treatment along with his increased involvement with several international groups advancing electrochemistry and electrolysis technology and applications. Based upon assessments made of Dr. Hanaoka’s knowledge, achievements and scientific endeavors, experts in the field of electrolysis consider Dr. Hanaoka to be one of the top five world scientists on Functional Electrolyzed Water.
