Dr. Douglas J. Phillips

Douglas J. Phillips had previously practiced General Dentistry for over thirty-eight years. In the late 1970's, his traditional, restorative practice began to shift to a more specialized focus--patients with chronic headache, facial pain, and jaw dysfunction. He became increasingly interested in why some of these patients healed with traditional treatments, while others did not.

Dr. Phillips now treats people with chronic pain and illness using natural means. Herbal nutraceuticals and antimicrobial immune system peptides that kill unwanted organisms, natural supplements of very high purity that rebuild and nourish, non-drug detoxification of heavy metals, toxic solvents, herbicides, pesticides & fungicides and an advanced integrated desensitizing procedure is used in his natural practice of Theocentric Holistic Healing. Applied Psycho Neurobiology and Family Systemic Therapy are used to manage the all-important emotional aspect present in all diseases. Dr. Phillips treats the energetic aspect of everything from chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and cancer to Lyme disease and multiple chemical sensitivity. Dr. Philips aims at the cause of the problem, not just its symptoms.

Hollywood Birth Center (Dr. Kurt Marin and Debbie Marin)

Debbie Marin is the owner of the Hollywood Birth Center and has been a licensed midwife for over 20 years. In 1983 Debbie had her first daughter, a water birth at home in a state where direct entry midwifery was not legal. That experience was just the beginning. For several years Debbie attended births as a lay midwife and in 1998, upon returning to Florida she attended the South Florida School of Midwifery for 3 years. Debbie was instrumental in helping to change the midwifery law to allow more licensed midwives to practice in Florida including serving as president of the Broward chapter of Friends of Midwives. She wrote a midwifery curriculum that was implemented in a National School of Technology in South Florida and was the clinical director, administrator, teacher and a student in that program. The two classes of women she graduated have gone on to become midwives in Florida. Debbie opened The Hollywood Birth Center in 1993 and has since trained countless midwives. She has dedicated her life to empowering women and keeping birth safe.

David J. Blyweiss, MD began his medical career as a clinical pharmacist in South Florida prior to earning his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 1982. This dual background allowed him to appreciate the relevance of conventional pharmaceutical/surgical based treatments in acute medical conditions, but also to recognize where these approaches fell short in treating the majority of patients who suffered from the chronic degenerative diseases of “western civilization origin”.

Over the last twenty years, with the nutritional medical knowledge base expanding in the fields of nutrigenomics, proteomics and other related “orthomolecular” disciplines directed towards patients’ biochemical individuality, Dr. Blyweiss became an early adherent and experienced practitioner of what would become known as “functional medicine”. Dr. Blyweiss has used this matrix of systems biology to effectively manage and alleviate the symptoms related to the most “difficult-to-treat” conditions by addressing the underlying causes, allowing the body to heal itself.

Dr. Blyweiss was one of the researchers doing the early work on chlorhexidine (phisohex) while earning his first post graduate degree at Temple University School of Pharmacy. During medical school he worked with the WHO (World Health Organization) in vaccinating children in the islands of the Caribbean. He has traveled the world, most recently to Gabon and Croatia working closely with teams of specialists to identify new plant life and natural products for possible human benefit. He has consulted for and created state-of-the-art nutritional supplements for multiple nutritional companies since 1999. His most recent accomplishment was forming Eden Laboratories Ltd. doing stem cell research and transplants in Belize, CA.

Dr. Anup Kanodia

Family, Integrative and Functional Medicine

Education and Training: Institute of Functional Medicine and Masters in Public Health from Harvard School of Public School of Public Health Fellowship: Harvard Medical School Complementary and Integrative Medicine Fellowship Family Medicine Residency: Mayo Clinic Medical School: Northeastern Ohio Medical University

As a classically trained physician, it did not take me long to realize that my initial medical school training was not enough for me to fundamentally help people achieve true, long lasting health. Early in my residency, I began to notice that the symptom/drug approach worked for acute problems, such as severe bacterial infections and heart attacks, but this model was fundamentally flawed for chronic health conditions. It did not and does not work. The reason this model is inadequate is because it is entrenched in dispensing pharmaceuticals that often have severe side effects and not in how to search for the “root” cause and treat the person, not just their symptom.

My original passion in medicine took on a whole new meaning and my mission was now clear: dig for the root cause, identify it, treat it and eliminate it. This process is the key to help people transform their health and empower them to live the joyful life they were meant to live.
